CES Highlights Home Networking

To highlight the convergence of technology in the home, the 2001 International CES will showcase smart appliances and the consumer benefits of interconnectivity through keynote addresses, executive briefings, supersessions and home networking exhibits January 6-9 in Las Vegas, NV. Four tracks on the CES conference program will focus on issues relating to home networking and connectivity with a special home networking supersession to be held January 8. During the supersession, industry leaders Julie Shimer of 3Com Corp. and Dave Martella of RadioShack will examine the present and future of home networking. Julie Jacobson, editor of Home Networking News, will serve as moderator for the supersession.

CES will showcase technology trends such as home networking with keynotes by two leading industry pioneers: Bill Gates, chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft Corp. and Craig Barrett, president and CEO of Intel. Four sessions on the home networking track will cover Bluetooth technology and interconnectivity, smart appliances and the interactive household, set-top boxes and 1394 and the impact of audio and video convergence.
