DirecTV Retains NCAA Deal

New york, NY--CBS Sports and DirecTV Inc. have agreed to a one-year extension of the agreement allowing DirecTV to offer out-of-market broadcasts, supplemental to CBS' national coverage, of NCAA Men's Basketball Championship games exclusively on a national basis through the DirecTV Mega March Madness subscription.

New york, NY–CBS Sports and DirecTV Inc. have agreed to a one-year extension of the agreement allowing DirecTV to offer out-of-market broadcasts, supplemental to CBS’ national coverage, of NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship games exclusively on a national basis through the DirecTV Mega March Madness subscription.

“We are tremendously pleased to continue our relationship with DirecTV providing viewers the opportunity to purchase those games not broadcast in their local market,” said Sean McManus, president, CBS Sports. “This agreement only serves to enhance CBS Sports’ overall coverage of the tournament and in no way will affect the quality broadcasts CBS Sports has produced for nearly two decades.” DirecTV customers who purchase Mega March Madness will receive up to 37 out-of-market CBS-produced broadcasts from the first three rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.

Also, on the heels of last year’s national launch of DirecTV Interactive Powered by Wink, DirecTV has launched its “Instant Weather” service from The Weather Channel–the first new dedicated interactive channel available on the DirecTV Interactive service. The new channel is now available to more than one million DirecTV customers nationwide with a Wink-capable RCA/DirecTV Receiver. Instant Weather is free to DirecTV customers and can be found on DirecTV channel 492.
