CEA recently received top honors in EXPO Magazine’s E.X.C.I.T.E. Awards.
CEA was named the Gold Winner in the “Best Use of a Mobile App” category for its Follow Me App for the 2012 International CES. The E.X.C.I.T.E. Awards honor excellence and innovation in the tradeshow and event industries, and recognize outstanding achievement across 12 categories.
CEA collaborated with Core-Apps, a mobile application development company, to create an official mobile application for the 2012 International CES. CEA and Core-Apps developed user-friendly features for the application to provide preshow planning and customized onsite navigation.
“As the world’s largest and most important technology event, it is vital that the International CES pioneer the use of technology to enhance the attendee experience,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president, events and conferences, CEA. “Core-Apps and CEA collaborated to construct a mobile application that enhances the CES show for all attendees by putting information at their fingertips to make CES as beneficial and interactive as possible.”
Attendees with any web-based smartphone or tablet were able to download the app for free and use its one-of-a-kind features with or without an internet connection. Through the app, users had the ability to manage their 2012 CES event schedule, access onsite navigation through interactive show maps, receive news alerts and special offers from vendors, download press kits, make travel arrangements and access market research. Users could also download photos and videos from the galleries, receive the live #CES Twitter feed and become “friends” with others to send messages and share schedules.
“This was a team effort between CEA and Core-Apps,” said Jay Tokosch, CEO, Core-Apps. “The CES audience expects us to top each year’s mobile app and we feel honored to be recognized for achieving that for the 2012 International CES.”
The Follow Me application for the 2012 CES received a total of 80,149 downloads, a 20 percent increase from 2011 CES app downloads. The 2013 CES mobile app will be available for download in the autumn of 2012.
