The 2016 iHeartRadio music awards broadcast will be mixed in 5.1 surround by Music Mix Mobile (M3) with a system featuring M&K Sound loudspeakers. M3 used the same M&K-equipped facility for this year’s Grammy awards.
The iHeartRadio Music Awards will be broadcast live on TBS, TNT, and truTV at 8PM EDT, 5PM PDT on April 3rd, from the Forum in Los Angeles. The program will also simulcast on iHeartMedia stations nationwide, and on the iHeartRadio digital music platform.
M3’s mobile mixing facilities were designed to accommodate the large demands on high channel input, multi-performance television, and audio productions. Three of M3’s trucks, Eclipse, Voyager, and Horizon have been upgraded to M&K Sound speakers.
An M&K 2510P monitor, a self-powered version of the M&K Sound S-150, handles the three front channels (L, C, R). Two M&K 1611P powered monitors are used for the rear surround channels while two X-10 push/pull configuration powered subwoofers reproduced all the bass on the stage.
After the Grammy Awards broadcast, Music Mix Mobile’s chief engineer Joel Singer commented, “We want to acknowledge the hard work and outstanding effort by all crews and vendors on the (Grammys) show, but have to single out M&K Sound. The imaging, tonality, and sonic presence of the M&K Sound speakers are a welcome addition to Music Mix Mobile. We couldn't have been more thrilled with the control room sound and how it translated to the broadcast world.”
Residential home theater and music enthusiasts can enjoy the same sound as the pros by using M&K Sound high performance speakers in their own systems. M&K Sound speakers are sold by a network of specialty retailers and custom integrators, and online through the M&K website. All of the models used in the iHeartRadio mix are available to all M&K authorized residential integrators and pro audio dealers.
