Acurus Ships New Scorpion Multi-Zone Amplifier

Indy Audio Labs, LLC, is now shipping the Acurus Scorpion, a new multi-zone amplifier designed specifically for medium-to- large residential installations and light commercial applications.

Indy Audio Labs, LLC, owners of the high-performance American-made audio brands Acurus and Aragon, is now shipping the Acurus Scorpion, a new multi-zone amplifier designed specifically for medium-to-large residential installations and light commercial applications.

The Acurus Scorpion combines rugged, USA-made construction with the high-end sonic performance Acurus has been known for since 1993. Indy Audio Labs’s proprietary web control technology is included, simplifying remote audio adjustments, zone configuration and setup on modern mobile devices and tablet PCs.

Delivering more than 40 watts per channel of low-noise, low-distortion audio simultaneously to eight stereo audio zones (16 channels) in a compact, 2RU-high chassis, the Acurus Scorpion is designed to run cool while meeting stringent audio standards. Stereo zones may be bridged for up to 160 watts (into 8 ohm loads), while built-in audio matrix capabilities eliminate the need for external audio matrix switchers in many applications, saving time, cost, system complexity, and rack space.

Two dedicated preamp outputs with greater than 100 dB dynamic range are included and have full input matrix capabilities. These outputs are ideal for applications requiring high-powered, independently controllable audio zones. External power amplifiers may be driven using these outputs, and/or additional Scorpion units may be daisy-chained, expanding coverage to 16 or more stereo zones.

A full-color, touchpanel display in front facilitates easy monitoring and setup and can be set to sleep after a timeout period or even locked out via password in order to prevent tampering when mounted in a rack. In addition to ethernet and RS-232 ports, 12V trigger in and out ports are included and are assignable per zone. The built-in DHCP-enabled web server in the Acurus Scorpion, along with the front-panel display, automate connection to a local network for web control via smartphone or tablet in minutes.

According to Rick Santiago, Indy Audio Labs CEO, “Audiophiles and sound professionals already know the performance and quality of Acurus in home cinema and two-channel audio. With our new Acurus Scorpion, installers can now save time and increase control in their zone audio setups. Homeowners and small-business customers can experience Acurus audio in any environment, indoors and out.“

The Acurus Scorpion is available now through authorized Indy Audio Labs dealers and distributors around the world. Suggested U.S. retail price is $3,599.
