Alcons Audio is exhibiting at CEDIA for the first time, bringing its pro-ribbon loudspeaker technology to the residential marketplace after its successful use in the commercial cinema, installed sound, and performing arts markets. The company will be holding demonstrations of an immersive home theater audio system in conjunction with Barco projection, Trinnov audio processing, and a DreamScreen projection screen.
David Rahn of Alcons AudioAccording to co-founder Tom Back, the company’s loudspeaker technology is poised to stand out in the residential market, where integrators or consultants traditionally have to make a choice between high-quality speakers with low SPL handling, or vice versa. Back said that Alcons’ speakers with ribbon tweeters enable reference-quality audio to be played comfortably, without fatigue, at sound levels exceeding 100 decibels.
