Auction Raises $75,000 for Elf Foundation

Home theater enthusiasts and CE manufacturers support childrens charity during annual Caribbean cruise.

New York, NY–Once a year, a group of home theater enthusiasts, CE industry manufacturers, and technology experts get together for a week on a cruise ship to enjoy each others company and discuss the latest technology trends. This year’s Home Theater Cruise featured a live auction to raise money for the Elf Foundation, a non-profit charity that brings the magic of music and film to sick children.

The auction generated more than $75,000, thanks to the generous contributions from the top brands in the industry, including Runco International, Yamaha Electronics, Stewart Filmscreen, Monster Cable, Primare, Triad, Microsoft, Sencore, Equi-Tech, Imaging Science Foundation, Design Cinema Privee, Vizionware, Datacolor, Niles Audio, and Anchors Away Cruise Center. An evening with jazz vocalist Nicole Henry was a special surprise auction item, along with signed DVDs from acclaimed cinematographer Allan Daviau and video guru Joe Kane.

This years voyage to the Caribbean was the sixth annual cruise and during the thank you party it was announced that the 2008 Home Theater Cruise would be sailing from Seattle on May 30 for a spectacular weeks cruise to Alaska aboard Celebrity Cruises elegant Infinity oceanliner.

Were incredibly fortunate to have so many dear friends who support Elf and our work in childrens hospitals, said foundation president, Doug Weinstein. The annual cruise is a great way to catch up with old friends, hear the latest in technology news, and also to raise awareness and funds for our Room of Magic theater program.
