AVAD has added smart locks from Kwikset with Z-Wave wireless technology to its product lines. The Kwikset SmartCode product series includes a variety of lever and deadbolt locks that integrate with leading home automation and security systems.

Kwikset SmartCode locks provide 128-bit encryption, a motorized deadbolt and SmartKey technology with BumpGuard protection to offer a high level of security. The ZWave wireless protocol makes the locks easy to integrate, and the hardware requires just a screwdriver to retrofit from the existing deadbolt. The resulting keyless entry increases safety and convenience by eliminating the need to carry or hide keys and adding the ability to lock or unlock from a smartphone. The SmartCode system allows for up to 30 unique user codes, enabling homeowners to grant access and track entry for anyone in the household.

“Home automation will continue to expand beyond energy and entertainment, and we want our dealers to be able to provide their customers with fully integrated security technology," said Hugh Hughes, director of vendor management and purchasing at AVAD. “Kwikset’s smart access technology can now communicate with other connected systems wirelessly. A full whole-home solution now offers remote locking and remote access notifications for the ultimate peace of mind.”

In addition to offering wireless, keypad or touchscreen entry, the products are available in a variety of finishes to match surrounding décor, including brass, nickel, bronze, and chrome. The hardware is reversible for either door handing and adjustable to accommodate the most common door thicknesses.
