CEDIA veteran Bill Skaer has joined Audio Design Associates (ADA), as partner and North American sales manager (NSM). Skaer ran a successful custom integration company for more than 35 years, giving him unique insight into dealers’ businesses.

“I am overwhelmed to have Bill join my team at this pivotal moment in ADA’s ascension,” said Richard Stoerger, president and CEO of ADA. “He brings to the table a set of business values that mirror our own. His exuberance and knowledge just take my breath away. I am blessed not to just have Bill running our North American sales program, I am proud to have him as partner in this vision quest. He is a person that is well known for helping dealers and manufacturers alike in our industry and we look forward to him sharing his immense knowledge of the industry as he hits the road with our dealers and new team of sales representatives.”

Skaer quietly consulted with Stoerger as he was working on a buyout solution of ADA, a company Stoerger has been associated with since he entered the custom installation industry in 1988. “I have been a member of the ADA family since before CEDIA, if you can believe that,” Skaer said. “We first met in the late 1980s at the only trade event worth going to, CES in Chicago. Between Peter and Albert [McKean and Langella, ADA co-founders] as well as Richard, all sweating it out in their lab coats, Eric Grundelman and I began what has turned out to be a three-decade-long friendship. Peter McKean was one of my greatest mentors. And as for Albert, he is perhaps the most brilliant engineer in our industry and it is his dedication to quality that inspires me after decades of friendship.”

“Bill was selling systems from a wonderful competitor who also made their gear in the USA, Colorado-based AudioEase,” Stoerger said. “Converting them over to ADA took time because Bill kept asking what made ADA different. Just as today, the one thing that we would point to was our superior sound and build quality. At the time, longevity to us was a mere 10 years. Who would have thought that 30 years later, most of their ADA installs are still working?”

As the longest-serving member of the CEDIA board of directors, Skaer is also recipient of the CEDIA’s prestigious volunteer of the year award, is a CEDIA fellow, and is a recipient of CEDIA’s highest honor, its lifetime achievement award.

“What other company can boast two past CEDIA directors, two volunteers of the year, two fellows, and two lifetime achievement award recipients?” said Stoerger. “Bill holds title to all four and as we are just coming off of the Olympics, I am proud to say that he greatly enhances our medal count.”

Over the years, Skaer cultivated a reputation in the industry for his hospitality, most notably for hosting CEDIA barbecue gatherings. Now, in his new role, Skaer intends to make hospitality a cornerstone in his plans for North America. “We are building a new family of sales representatives and dealers that want to be with us, to do business with us, and to learn why ADA solutions really matter to their business,” Skaer said. “I am so excited to be part of the ADA brand and to help take this company to the next level.”

As hospitality is the central theme behind Skaer’s plans for the upcoming CEDIA show, the company will not be exhibiting on the show floor, but instead are holding meetings in ADA’s luxury Suite 1364 at the Omni Hotel adjacent to the convention center. Skaer suggested contacting him directly via email to arrange an appropriate hospitable meeting at [email protected] or by calling him at 469-446-6647.
