Bang & Olufsen is showing some creative new products at its booth, highlighted by the BeoSound Shape modular on-wall speaker system and the BeoVision Eclipse, an all-in-one OLED TV and LCR soundbar system in partnership with LG.
Bang & Olufsen’s Petros Belimpasakis demonstrates the BeoSound Shape modular speaker system.
Composed of a highly customizable array of hexagonal tiles—which contain either a speaker, an amplifier or sound dampening material—the BeoSound Shape can expand from the minimum recommended setup six tiles (four speakers, an amplifier and a damper) up to as many as 44 speaker tiles driven by 11 amplifiers. Designed to be easy to align and install, the system employs an up-mixing algorithm dubbed “Band on the Wall” that separates a stereo signal to place a singer’s voice in the middle of the array and instruments to the sides. For connectivity, it features the BeoSound Core hub, enabling wireless streaming via technologies such as AirPlay, Chromecast built-in or Bluetooth.
BeoVision Eclipse combines either a 55- or 65-inch LG OLED panel with a 450-watt, six-driver LCR soundbar, and sits on an optional motorized swiveling stand. Featuring the same audio streaming functionality of the BeoSound Shape, its speaker can also be used as a center channel along with other speakers for an expanded 5.1 or 7.1 surround configuration.
Rounding out its new product introductions were the BeoLab 50 hi-fi speakers and the Terrestrial outdoor line array speakers, developed in conjunction with Origin Acoustics.
