Catalyst AV member NuTech Group/Tech Source Distributors held a two-day Sony road show event in Montgomeryville, PA and in Falls Church, VA, in early May.
On display were the new 4K HDR TV lineup, the 5000ES laser projector, the new short throw projector, and the new ES AV receivers.
“The Sony roadshows were a resounding success; we hosted approximately 70 dealers in Pennsylvania and 60 in Virginia,” said Brett Neiderman, president NuTech/Tech Source. “The dealers had their choice of a morning or afternoon session lasting several hours. Sony has a roadshow in each territory to show their new products. The emphasis was on new TV models, particularly OLED, new AV receivers, and a new short-throw projector.
“These roadshows are so important because they are a great opportunity for dealers to see all of the new products in an intimate setting, learn about them, understand how they perform, and interact with factory personnel, all within a few hours.”
Sony’s Carlos Giraldo presented on all products.
Said attendee Patrick Mattucci, senior systems designer for Audio Video Hi-Fi Sales, “I have to thank NuTech/Tech Source and the entire crew for bringing us these roadshows. The superiority of the new OLED for contrast, color rendition, and motion handling is the best I’ve ever seen in a direct-view panel, which essentially makes the Sony the finest TV ever made. I look forward to displaying it in our showroom. Likewise, the new ES 4KBD player is a compelling product, and a much-appreciated alternative to other brands.
“What was most interesting is the line of ES AVRs. I think Sony has really asserted themselves in a product genre that offers so little differentiation anymore from the other manufacturers.”
