CEDIA Launches CEO Search, O’Connor Now COO

The search is on for Don Gilpin’s replacement at CEDIA, while Tabatha O'Connor has been named chief operating officer.

CEDIA has retained Korn/Ferry International, the world’s largest executive search firm, to try to find candiates for CEDIA’s newly created chief executive officer position. The position was created earlier this year following the announcement by Gilpin—the association’s current executive director and COO—that he will step down after 18 years leading CEDIA. Gilpin will remain with the association until a CEO is hired.

Tabatha O’Connor has been named CEDIA’s COO.The continuing growth and international expansion of CEDIA signaled a desire to better define its executive structure to best support the long-term goals of the organization. Along with adding the CEO position, the board of directors has appointed long-term CEDIA veteran Tabatha O’Connor to the position of chief operating officer.

For its CEO role, CEDIA is searching for an individual with global leadership experience who shows passion for the growth of the organization and the membership globally. The CEO will report to the board of directors and collaborate with the board to forge the strategic vision for the organization.

Other key responsibilities of the CEO will include strategic planning and governance, forging of partnerships, membership development, communications and advocacy, as well as staff leadership.
