CEDIA Mexico Accomplishes Milestone

Home:TECH, an industry event co-sponsored by CEDIA, put on a successful show from Mexico City's World Trade Center in September.

Mexico City, Mexico–Home:TECH put on a successful show from the World Trade Center in Mexico City. From September 24-26, Home:TECH Expo welcomed over 6,000 attendees, with 37 exhibiting companies. CEDIA acted as a co-sponsor to the event with increased participation.

Rich Green of Rich Green Ink, as well as Gordon Van Zuiden of cyberManor administered some of CEDIAs top-ranked education curricula. Some of the courses offered at Home:TECH included High Definition Home Theatre Calibrations; DVR Technology in the Home or Office; Home Theater in the Real World; Video Distribution Technology; Digital Media Servers; and the popular course of Future Technologies: The Inside Scoop from Silicon Valley. Mexico continues to be CEDIAs number one developing region in terms of growth and level of interest. The Mexican region is supporting CEDIA in its quest to become the industry standard on a global scale.

Mexico accomplished another milestone in the development process during the Home:TECH show. The CEDIA Mexico Installer I Certification Exam was taken by 21 attendees. This number is comparable to the first U.S. certification exam offered in February of 2000. At the first U.S. offering of Installer I, 31 people took the exam. CEDIA would like to thank the Subject Matter Experts for their hard work and dedication in launching the certification exam in Mexico. The SMEs include: Sergio Gaitan, Pedro Garza, Jorge Gomez, Ernesto Montanez, and Ricardo Rosas.

The next CEDIA activity in Mexico will take place March 4-6, 2005, in Queretaro, Mexico at the Mision Juriquilla (www.hotelsmision.com.mx). For more information contact CEDIAs Global Program Coordinator, Branden Camp (bcamp@cedia.org) or Octavio Aguilar at oamcedia@igo.com.mx.
