Indianapolis, IN–United States Senator Byron Dorgan (D. ND) invited CEDIA to participate in the sixth annual Upper Great Plains Technology Conference and Trade Show in Fargo, North Dakota from October 11-12. CEDIA participated on the Home of the Future Workshop panel held at the conference.
Senator Dorgan, a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, developed the Upper Great Plains Technology Conference and Trade Show as a way to bring industry leaders to North Dakota to discuss technology developments and explore innovative uses of technology at home and in business.
The workshop focused on the future of home construction and looked at the products and technologies available to create a digital home of the future, integrating home security, digital entertainment, home networking and other digital devices. Gerry Demple, chairman of the CEDIA Government Affairs Action Team, represented CEDIA on the Home of the Future Workshop panel and spoke on electronic systems used in home entertainment systems.
The conference was a great opportunity to showcase the work of CEDIAs members, as well as highlight the electronic systems contractor profession to Senator Dorgan and his staff, who are very influential individuals in the U.S. Senate, stated Nicholas Pasyanos, senior director of government and public affairs for CEDIA.
