CEDIA Sees EXPO Attendance as Good Economic Sign

Organization says electronic system contractor attendance positive for home technology industry.

Denver, CO–More than 25,000 professionals from the residential electronics systems industry, attended the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) EXPO in Denver this week. Despite the economic climate, this year’s attendance had a minimal decrease from last year’s EXPO of 29,000 attendees. In addition, the number of non-exhibiting professionals in attendance increased along with the number of electronic systems contractors (ESC) taking advantage of CEDIA University training.

“CEDIA leadership was very aware of the implications the economy might have on our members,” said Don Gilpin, COO. “To help offset the impact, CEDIA provided over $500,000 worth of free education at EXPO.”

Over 500 exhibitors, including more than 90 new companies, displayed the latest home technologies and newest products available in the electronic systems integration industry. Professionals in the industry were able to meet the innovative engineers and inventor’s first-hand and learn more about the technology to further their knowledge on the products they design and install in consumers’ homes.

At the Manufacturers’ Action Team meeting held at EXPO 2008, CEDIA member manufacturers offered positive feedback on their experience at this year’s show.

“We have been exhibiting at CEDIA EXPO since its inception and this year’s show provided the best show day of our CEDIA career,” said Larry Pexton of Triad Speakers.

More than 60 awards were presented to winners of the Electronic Lifestyles awards at the annual awards banquet on Saturday, September 6. CEDIA Member companies were honored for their design and technology expertise in addition to outstanding strides in product development and technology. A complete list of winners, including outstanding photos of home technology systems, is available at www.cedia.org/awards.
