CEDIA to Host Webinar Series on HDCP 2.2, HDMI 2.0

David Meyer, founder of Kordz and subject matter expert in HDMI and UHD technologies, will host a three-part webinar series on HDCP 2.2 for CEDIA.

David Meyer, founder of Kordz and subject matter expert in HDMI and UHD technologies, will host a three-part webinar series on HDCP 2.2 for CEDIA. The series is designed to help participants understand the evolution of HDMI and HDCP, the technical side of the HDCP 2.2 standard and compatibility, and the design considerations for UHD systems moving forward.

“The evolving HDCP standard has significant impact in the residential space,” said Luke Amos, CEDIA senior director of education. “As homeowners look at upgrading their systems to display UHD content, home technology professionals will need to have a solid grasp on the requirements. This webinar series will dive deep into HDCP 2.2, and also look at the impacts of HDMI 2.0 and HDR, providing the background and resources home technology professionals need to deliver seamless solutions.”

Part one, offered on May 19 at 6:00 p.m. EDT, looks at the evolution of HDCP with a comparative overview of HDCP 2.2. Part two, scheduled for June 16 at 6:00 p.m. EDT, takes a more in-depth look at HDCP 2.2, with a technical breakdown of the authentication process and divide between HDCP 1.4 and 2.2. The final part in this series will be hosted on July 21 at 6:00 p.m. EDT and will look at the other considerations when designing a UHD system, including bandwidth and compatibility with HDMI 2.0, HDBaseT, high frame rate, HDR, and wide color gamut.

The entire webinar series will be offered at no cost to both members and non-members, and participants are encouraged to watch these webinars in order to get the most out of the series. Each webinar will be uploaded to the CEDIA YouTube channel for easy access. Additionally, CEDIA will be working on updating the compilation of HDMI white papers as well as creating a white paper addressing HDCP 2.2.
