CEDIA Unveils Designer Exam at Canadian Expo

CEDIA is offering the Canadian version of the Designer Certification for the first time in Canada at the 2004 Canadian Exposition from June 27-28 in Alberta.

Indianapolis, IN–The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) is offering the Canadian version of the Designer Certification for the first time in Canada at the 2004 Canadian Exposition from June 27-28. The Exposition will be held at the Coast Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre in Calgary, Alberta.

The Canada Designer Certification exam is designed specifically for professionals in Canada and tests knowledge in design documentation, project design and management, as well as project needs analysis. The exam will be held on Monday, June 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In addition to Designer Certification, professionals will have the opportunity to take Installer I and Installer II certification examinations during the Canadian Exposition. These programs are also tailored specifically for the Canadian marketplace and cover guidelines and regulations for the low-voltage residential electronics industry, including building codes, CEC, Health Canada, Communications Canada and TIA Communications Standards.

The Designer and Installer certification programs are part of CEDIA’s Professional Certification (CPC) program and enhance the skills and knowledge of professionals in the field of custom electronics design and installation. The CPC seal of approval identifies certified designers and installers as the most highly respected and experienced in the industry. Installer I and Installer II certification has been available in Canada for the past several years. Currently, more than 200 Canadian professionals have received Installer I and Installer II certification.

“These certification programs are important for our members and consumers,” said CEDIA’s executive director, Billilynne Keller. “As the custom electronics industry continues to grow, it’s equally important that certified technicians are available to provide the best service and support to consumers. Our market share in Canada continues to grow and our ability to offer certification opportunities for our Canadian members is increasing in importance.”
