Clarus has introduced a USB cable for the Crimson Series, specifically designed for High Speed USB 2.0 computer audio applications.

The new Crimson USB will be introduced during the 2013 CEDIA EXPO in Denver, Colorado in booth 2321.

The engineering of the Crimson USB cable is the result of careful consideration of the complex issues associated with the design of digital cable, namely the preservation of signal integrity including minimization of jitter and the elimination of noise, according to the company. To satisfy these design requirements, the Crimson USB cable is manufactured from heavy gauge PCOCC copper, Pure Copper by the Ohno Continuous Casting—a process that yields the purest copper available today. The USB features 20AWG power conductors to ensure there is adequate current flow to USB audio devices.

To reduce jitter and timing issues, the Crimson USB cable is manufactured using high-precision wire twisting machines that ensure perfectly match twisted pairs. Skin effect is minimized by plating the solid-core PCOCC signal conductors with 6.1% solid silver. For noise elimination, there are effectively six layers of shielding to prevent the power signal or outside EMI/RFI from corrupting the digital USB signal. This heavy-duty protection also prevents emission of the high frequency USB signal from the cable, which if leaked, would adversely effect nearby cabling and electronics.

Like all Crimson Series cables, the new USB is covered with a black and red woven jacket. Available in October 2013 in one- and two-meter lengths.
