Key Digital has announced a partnership with Pakedge to deliver the best IP network backbone for the Compass Control’s network communication abilities.

Compass Control is a fully integrated control system built from the ground up to use Apple’s iOS devices – iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch – as its backbone.

Compass Alliance Partners (CAP) along with Pakedge have created a fully integrated control system with driver support for hardware from the following brands: Aprilaire, Boston Acoustics ClearOne, Denon, Furman, ICRealtime Security Solutions, iPort, Key Digital, LG, Lutron, Marantz, MechoSystems, Onkyo, Panamax, Primeview, Russound, SurgeX, and Wolfvision.

Founded in 2003, Pakedge Device & Software was created to meet the new demands for high-performance residential and commercial IP networks where audio and video share the same highway as computer and other traditional Ethernet devices. Pakedge pioneered the concept of audio video bridging for IP networks so that audio and video IP packets are separated and have priority over a shared digital highway.

Compass Control has the ability to control devices via RS-232, IR, or via TCP/IP. This new control system provides installers with bi-directional IR, two-way RS-232 with feedback, and two-way TCP/IP control for flexibility and maximum compatibility with new or existing devices. Network connectivity solutions are provided by Pakedge with its advanced wired and wireless networking devices. Compass Control also provides control via relays and sensors demonstrating its nature as a powerful integration tool. When programming the system via the Compass Navigator PC editor software, installers are given three separate database managers to make programming faster than traditional control systems. Compass Navigator also enables installers to edit command code sets which allows Compass Control to be tailored to each and every system installation. Compass Control is comprised of four main components: the iPad/iPhone/iPod touch, the KD-MC2500 master controller, the KD-CSL Compass Control Software License (which activates the system), and the optional KD-WPCW/KD-WCPB wall plates (available September 2012).

“With the efforts of Key Digital and Pakedge, Compass Control represents the culmination of our efforts to create the most powerful, most user-friendly, and most comprehensive control system available on the market today,” said Key Digital vice president of sales, Michael Lakhter.

“We are proud to partner with Key Digital,” said Dusan Jankov, executive vice president of technology at Pakedge. “Key Digital has brought a scalable, robust and fun product around iOS to market. We are honored that Key Digital selected Pakedge to work with because Key Digital recognized the importance of the IP network and the difference Pakedge hardware make in the success of Compass Control on the IP network.”
