Control4 Gets New President, Expands Tweeter Partnership

The IP-based home automation firm has promoted Glen Mella and has slated a nationwide rollout with Tweeter.

Salt Lake City, UT–Control4 has appointed Glen Mella as president and chief operating officer. Previously chief marketing officer, Mella will oversee the internal operations of the organization and report directly to Will West, Control4’s CEO and founder.

“Glen has done an outstanding job building our sales and marketing organization and has helped propel Control4 from start up to a company with significant revenue and international brand recognition,” said West. “In this new role, Glen’s influence and direction will be even more valuable for our company. His years of executive management experience in technology, retail and consumer products, will be a critical asset as we continue to aggressively expand.”

Prior to joining the company, Mella was senior vice president of marketing and sales for Triton PCS, a leading provider of digital wireless phone service in the Southeast. Previously, he served as president and CEO of Found Inc., which was acquired by CRS Retail Systems, a provider of point-of-sale multi-channel software.

“There isn’t a more compelling or exciting company and market opportunity right now,” said Mella. “The vision Will has set forth–transforming home automation into a practical and affordable option for any home–is an incredible value proposition that is being extremely well received by custom installers, electronic retailers, and consumers. I couldn’t be happier about the opportunity to work with the Control4 team to continue the momentum and help scale our organization.”

Control4 also announced it is extending its strategic partnership with Tweeter to support a nationwide rollout in all 153 Tweeter locations.

Tweeter will offer Control4’s line of affordable, wired and wireless products designed to merge home theater control, multi-room music, smart lighting control and temperature control systems into an easy-to-use whole home automation system. Tweeter will also provide system design services and professional installation and configuration.

“We have been extremely pleased with the consumer response to the combination of our easy-to-use, affordable systems with Tweeter’s revolutionary retail environment and service expertise,” said West. “Experiencing home control and automation at Tweeter powerfully illustrates the practical application of this technology for any residence, dramatically expanding market opportunities for both companies and the entire category.”

Control4 home automation products were first introduced at a Tweeter Consumer Electronics Playground concept store in Las Vegas in January 2005.
