Built-in support for gauges and sliders enables programmers to create finger touch control effects, such as lowering shades in the bedroom with a finger swipe on the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, or setting and checking room temperatures from animated graphical gauges.

Homeowners and facilities managers can now view streaming video from security cameras or from any video source fed through a Crestron Network Video Streamer or any MJPEG device, through their mobile device.

Larger GUI projects can now also be loaded directly onto the mobile device allowing smaller control systems to run full-featured touch screen interfaces.

“Now, you have the option to load projects directly on the iPad or iPhone, in addition to hosting the project on the control system, like always,” said Crestron VP of technology, Fred Bargetzi. “This flexibility lets you switch phones without having to get anything reconfigured by the dealer – a huge time saver, especially for those on the road. You can also upgrade your mobile device, iPad to iPad 2 for example, switch carriers/phones and even add more devices, such as iPod touch – all without technical assistance. If you’re running one of our new 3-Series control systems, there’s more than enough memory to accommodate any mobile program.”

Nearly all the programming capabilities of VisionTools Pro-e, Crestron’s touch screen design software, are now possible when designing GUIs for Apple mobile devices. Using VT Pro-e, programmers can create touch screen interfaces that are fully integrated with a Crestron control network.

“Apple has essentially put a touch panel in the hands of millions. Mobile Pro G instantly turns the iPad into a fully-functioning Crestron touch screen,” said Bargetzi. “Connecting the most popular mobile device to the most powerful control system provides installers with unlimited flexibility in system design and GUI creativity, and the homeowner or facilities manager with mobile control capabilities not previously available, or even imagined.”
