D&H Distributing has launched a new Accessories Initiative to help dealers and retailers increase margins through add-on sales of accessories.

The Initiative includes the launch of an interactive, online “Add-On the Profits” Accessory Guide, which educates dealers on different types of accessories that can be marketed in various categories.

Similar in function and format to the D&H Digital Home Guide tool that the company established in the fall, the Accessory Guide is an interactive, web-based PDF organized into five categories: home office, mobile computing, portable entertainment, home entertainment and digital imaging. Dealers and retailers can explore the categories that best represent their core business, or research new accessory areas to pursue.

When a dealer or retailer clicks on a category, an array appears of accessories that coordinate with products in that genre. For instance, the portable entertainment tab provides product information on an IOGEAR GearPower iPhone case, a SanDisk 32GB flash drive, an iFrogz “EarPollution” headphones set, a PowerA Nintendo 3DS Explorer Starter Kit, etc. As the dealer clicks on an individual item, ordering information from dandh.com catalog pops on the screen. Account representatives at D&H will also make an extra effort to help their customers think in terms of add-on accessory sales, using the Guide as a tool to make ongoing recommendations in different categories.

“We’ve always been big advocates of using accessories to increase revenues across-the-board for retailers and dealers,” said Rob Eby, vice president of purchasing at D&H. “Our new initiative is a more formal approach to that. The Guide makes it easy to flip through different scenarios and match-up accessories with various products, allowing customers to enhance profits on any type of sale.”
