D&M Holdings, parent company of Denon, Marantz, McIntosh, Boston Acoustics, and Snell Acoustics, is scaling back its Canadian presence in an effort, if says, “to remain vital and competitive” in that market.

This reorganization of D&M’s North America operations was announced in a statement from Bob Weissburg, the company’s president of North American sales and marketing.

“As part of this reorganization, we are refocusing our structure to improve efficiency and maximize synergies with our U.S. operations,” he stated. “As we initiate this redeployment of our resources, we will be re-investing in marketing, product development, and process improvement.”

According to the statement, D&M also is re-positioning its New Jersey headquarters to encompass the entire North American Region, including Canada sales and operations. The move will lead to a loss of jobs, according to Weissburg. “Unfortunately, this initiative will result in job losses for some of our employees in Canada,” he said.

The Canadian office will remain open through June 30, 2011, and D&M Canada president Doug Griesbach, will continue in his leadership role through this transitional period.

“D&M Holdings places a very high value on our Canadian business, and we will continue to maintain a strong presence in the country, including a local sales office and warehouse facility,” Weissburg concluded. “We are confident that this realignment will position us to fully exploit all the marketing synergies between D&M companies and allow us to even more effectively serve our retail and custom installation customers throughout Canada.”
