Denon Electronics has announced the availability of a major hardware and firmware upgrade for owners of its AVR-5308CI AV Receiver and AVP-A1HDCI AV Home Theater/MultiMedia Preamplifier.
The upgrade, available to consumers for $999.99, will provide both units with full 3D pass-through capability, as well as Audyssey MultEQ XT32, Audyssey DSX and Dolby PLIIz.
Because the upgrade includes the addition of new hardware and firmware, it must be performed by an Authorized Denon Service Center. Shipping of the AVR-5308CI and/or the AVP-A1HDCI to and from the authorized service center is the responsibility of the purchaser. A list of authorized service centers and upgrade details may be found on the Denon website: avrupgrades.denon.com.
“We’re excited to bring these ground-breaking features to owners of our flagship AVR-5308CI A/V receiver and AVP-A1HDCI Preamplifier,” said Yoshinori Yamada, product manager for Denon core products. “The early adopters who purchased these components nearly 4 years ago bought them with the confidence that they would experience the very best in home entertainment for years to come. This upgrade is yet another example of Denon’s commitment to our customers to ensure that they remain at the cutting edge of the latest performance-enhancing technologies. The Firmware/Hardware upgrade provides Denon consumers with a whole new range of features and functions.”
In addition to full 3D pass-through capability, which will allow AVR-5308CI A/V and AVP-A1HDCI owners to enjoy the growing roster of 3D movies now becoming available, the upgrade includes Dolby Pro Logic IIz decoding for an enhanced audio experience featuring front height channels.
Denon owners will be able to take advantage of Audyssey DSX with left and right height and width channels – a new set of algorithms that synthesizes audio signals for new surround channels based on human perception and acoustical research.
The upgrade also features Audyssey’s advanced MultEQ XT32 room acoustic correction system and includes a specially calibrated microphone to automatically measure the speaker configuration and provide acoustic tailoring for the best surround sound experience, as well as quick and easy setup.
