Layton, UT–Destination Audio have begun shipping its new line of high performance in-ceiling LCR Speakers.
The three new speakers released are the ALC620, the ALC680 and the ALC820. These ceiling mount speakers have a 15-degree fixed offset woofer and tweeter bridge and are design for in-ceiling home theater applications.
There is a growing trend in home theater installations to install the speakers in the ceiling, freeing up wall space for art work, pictures and decoration, said Gary Tanner, director of sales for Destination Audio. Installers have long battled the dreaded wife acceptance factor when dealing with freestanding speakers, now they are experiencing similar resistance to in-wall and on-wall speakers. The new in-ceiling LCR speaker from Destination Audio rounds out the companys home theater product offering and Destination Audio dealers can now offer their homeowners the choice of freestanding, in-wall or in-ceiling home theater speakers.
The ALC620 is a 6.5-inch in-ceiling LCR speaker with a 1-inch pivoting silk tweeter and a Poly Graphite woofer. The ALC680 is a 6.5-inch in-ceiling LCR speaker with a 1-inch pivoting Nano-silk tweeter and an aluminized fiberglass matrix (AFM) woofer. The ALC820 is an 8-inch in-ceiling LCR speaker with a 1-inch pivoting silk tweeter and a Poly Graphite woofer. All three of these new speakers include a +/- 3 dB switch on the bridge. This switch increases or decreases the tweeter output by 3 dB, allowing installers to adjust for overly bright or dark rooms.
