D&H Expands Product VAR Training at Regional Events

Shows will feature Cisco, Microsoft, Linksys, Intel, and Lenovo SBM solutions.

Harrisburg, PA–D&H Distributing, the computer products and consumer electronics distributor, will host the first of two Mid-Atlantic Technology Shows this year on June 6 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The Mid-Atlantic Summer Technology Show boasts 11 seminars, for a total of over 17 hours of training, presenting more educational opportunities and assorted topics than any of the Mid-Atlantic shows in the event’s nine-year history.

This year’s summer event will bring together more than 100 exhibitors. Among them are Microsoft, which will present an on-site Small Business Specialist cram session; Cisco, whose Smart Business Communications System workshop will introduce VARs to the new SMB productivity suite, including voice, data, video, and wireless networking solutions; and Linksys, which will co-host an Introduction to Voice seminar along with Cisco.

Other heavy-hitting SMB exhibitors include Ricoh, Panasonic Toughbooks, NETGEAR, and D-Link; plus top component vendors like Intel (offering a Small Business Server seminar with Microsoft), AMD, Seagate, and Acer. Lenovo will add some exhilaration to the floor with a customized Mini Cooper convertible, available for customer photos.

The show will also include a new “Digital Home Alley,” spotlighting key trends in home networking, entertainment, and SOHO solutions. Presentations on hot topics in this arena include digital home networking (Bedrock Learning), digital signage (NEC), and network cameras (Panasonic). This integration of Digital Home vendors into the Mid-Atlantic show marks a turning point; D&H is infusing elements of its digital convergence event into each of its regional shows, instead of mounting a separate convergence expo, making this material more accessible throughout the year.

“The diversity of the training sessions for this event, from notebooks to HDTV to SMB servers, goes beyond the typical regional channel offering,” said Dan Schwab, vice president of marketing at D&H. “We’re excited to provide such a breadth of content. The schedule has become a proving ground for new technologies across-the-board, one that will help our customers increase their core competencies no matter what their current strengths are.”

D&H amended its schedule to better accommodate attendance patterns the company has noted for past shows. Therefore, there will be two Mid-Atlantic events this year (summer and fall) and one New England event (August), each with digital home components. D&H kicked off its trade show schedule in February with its West Coast Technology Show in California, which featured Vista presentations within weeks of the platform’s launch.

“Now IT resellers, CE dealers and everyone in between can gain first-hand knowledge of the vast scope of markets represented at all of our regional events,” Schwab said. “The growth of both our schedule and our turnout is a testament to what a powerful draw hands-on education can be, and how interrelated the different verticals have become.”

As with all D&H trade events, the Mid-Atlantic Summer Technology Show is an active selling show for D&H resellers. Special, show-floor-only discounts will be offered, as will a list of door prizes and a grand prize give-away of a Philips 42″ plasma display.
