D-Tools has announced the winners of the 2011 D-Tools contest, Project:SUCCESS.
This contest recognized excellence in system integration projects utilizing D-Tools System Integrator software. D-Tools held the contest to pursue SI5.5 users’ greatest success stories and designs about how the software has positively affected their business and returned a significant ROI. Success stories of some of most distinguished system integrators were submitted by the D-Tools user base. The contest is sponsored by D-Tools MVP Partners Atlantic Technology, URC, and Atlona Technologies.
The winners were selected by the D-Tools Executive team and were judged on a number of criteria, including originality, project complexity, use of D-Tools’ software, and which stories best communicate the user’s expertise of the software.
The 2011 Project:SUCCESS Winners:
First Place: Mauricio Barrientos- Independent Designer
Long time D-Tools user, Mauricio Barriento’s contest entry included project designs and details about a Manhattan based Stock Trading Firm that required a more effective communication method with their offices in Dallas and Los Angeles. Barrientos designed an integrated audio/video distribution system throughout the facility with an impressive combination of Crestron for the control system, Lutron for the lighting and shades, Sonance Speakers, and a Polycom phone system equipped with cameras. Barriento’s proposals, wire pull charts, line diagrams, schematics, scheduling and rack elevations demonstrated to his client that he was several steps ahead of his competition. D-Tools along with Visio allowed him to be more creative, which impressed his clients; so much that they have elected Barrientos to design the Dallas system as well. Barriento’s expertise and knowledge of D-Tools SI software allowed him to simplify a very complex system which won him First Place.
Second Place: Bill Cole of Elite Media Solutions
Bill Cole’s project was created for a local builder who built a 9 million dollar spec house. He wanted Elite Media Solutions to merely pre-wire the house for the time being but Cole needed a plan to follow in order to properly complete the job. After discussion, Cole created a proposal in D-Tools including audio distribution, video distribution, a home theater, and home automation. The builder was impressed with the amount of detail of the proposal and now show’s all of his potential clients Cole’s project when they are interested in purchasing a luxury home. His theater elevation design displays nice use of D-Tools scaled shapes and has become an essential sales tool because it provides potential clients end-result visibility. His professionalism along with his theater elevation design won him Second Place.
Third Place: Andy Nerdahl of Service TECH, Inc.
Andy Nerdahl appreciates many features the software offers including the ability to create various drawings, proposals and change orders in one central location which greatly improves the ease in which they are able to show the client various options and revisions to the original project. Their 10,500 square foot residential theater project boasts Crestron interfaces that allow control of house audio, distributed video, HVAC, the pool, lighting, security, CCTV & the intercom, 7 zones of distributed video, 16 zones of house Audio, 7 Crestron MTX-3 remotes, a 12-inch Crestron Touchpanel, 3 iPads, and 2 Equipment Racks. Since ServiceTech implemented D-Tools, they have doubled business each year. Their attention to detail and use of nicely displayed icons and jpegs won them Third Place.
