Entropic Communications announced its MoCA (Multimedia over Coax) silicon and software solution will power the echoBox, a new Ethernet-over-Coax Network Adapter, offered by European equipment maker, Asheridge Communications.
Smart TV’s, HD set-top boxes and online gaming consoles in the home require a fast, reliable Ethernet connection. Leveraging Entropic’s MoCA technology, the echoBox was designed to distribute high-speed video and data around the home by using the unused frequency space on the same coax cable that carries the digital terrestrial (DVB-T) signal or cable TV signal. With its simple plug-and-play connection, the echoBox turns any home with a coax cable network into a fully wired Ethernet network, capable of streaming HD content and high speed data.
