Four Questions for Platinum Tools

Four Questions for Platinum Tools

Just in case you take your crimpers and testers for granted, we decided to ask Platinum Tools product manager

John Phillips; Platinum Tools Product Manager John Phillips to tell us something we don’t already know about our tool belt.

1. What is the most important tool a custom installer should have? That is easy— the “know-how” tool. Just because an installer has a $300 tool in their belt does not mean the job is going to come out right. You can have the most expensive and ultimate system in the world, using the best cable/wire available, but if the mapping is not correct or the connectivity terminations are lacking, guess what?

2. Which tools in your line have evolved the most in recent years and why? The EZRJ45 product series, the EZ crimp tools, and the EZ connectors. At this time, we offer three models of EZ crimp tools, the most recent being our new patented EZ-RJPRO HD crimp tool, a heavy-duty, highleverage design with an ultra-stable platform for consistent, repeatable terminations. On the connector side, there are a variety of patented EZ-RJ45s for twisted for granted, we decided to ask Platinum Tools product manager John Phillips to tell us something we don’t already know about our tool belt. 1. On the connector side, there are a variety of patented EZ-RJ45s for twisted pair cables such as Cat- 5e, Cat-6, non-shielded, shielded, stranded or solid, various types of strain relief and EZRJ12/ 11s. Without a doubt, the patented feed-through design assures getting the wiring configuration right every time.

3. What market or technical category has been most successful for your company? Every day, new applications are surfacing with twisted pair as being the choice of cable. I have a funny feeling that twisted pair will be around for awhile. For many installers, terminating and certifying Cat-5e and Cat-6 will be a new venture. With the EZ connector, they can be up and running and ready for the trenches in less than 30 minutes.

4. What problem are you working on solving right now with your line? For some time now, we have been asked as to why we do not have a keystone jack that would be just as easy to terminate as the EZ-RJ45 connector. Guess what? In the first part of July, Platinum Tools will have introduced the EZ-SnapJack. No punch down tool is required. You simply prep, insert, and snap.
