Front Projector Sales Increase 29 Percent

Front projector sales increased 29 percent across the combined indirect sales channels from May 2005 to June 2005.

Menlo Park, CA–Pacific Media Associates (PMA) has reported that front projector sales increased 29 percent across the combined indirect sales channels from May 2005 to June 2005.

According to the PMA Composite U.S. Channel Trends Report for June 2005, the U.S. Distributor Channel sold nearly 31,000 units in June 2005, an increase of 45 percent from May 2005. The Pro AV channel had the highest units sales with about 47,000 units sold, an increase of 27 percent from the previous month.

“We have seen sharp increases in unit sales during the final month in each of the last three quarters. Sales in June were driven by largely the education market which is served by both the Distributor and Pro AV channels,” said Michael Abramson, the PMA vice president who directs PMA’s research on front projectors. “Retail channel sales also increased by about 19 percent in June, but the education market dominates during this time of year,” adds Abramson.

While it may appear that the retail channel maintains large inventory levels, relative to unit sales, retail inventory has steadily declined for the past three months. Our Composite Report allows us to compare inventory levels across all channels. We see a decline in inventory within each channel from March through June,” Abramson noted.
