Granite Ridge Homes announced that the company will include automation solutions as standard amenities in each of the custom homes it is building in its new Ft. Wayne, Indiana, development. The company is kicking off the project in its esteemed NextSTEP Home, a project that collectively showcases the diverse components it combines to create highly energy-efficient smart homes, including full home automation.

Granite Ridge is delivering the automated lifestyle packages through a partnership with Audio Video Systems Inc., an Indiana technology service provider, and Clare Controls, a manufacturer of high-performance automation solutions. Clare is noted for the performance and scalability of its popular lifestyle applications, ranging from lighting, climate, and security to video surveillance and home entertainment.

Starting with the NextSTEP project, Granite Ridge’s homes will all include Clare’s CLIQ controller, the brain of the unified automation solution. The CLIQ controls all of Clare’s lifestyle applications, individually and in multi-functional one-touch scenes, through a single, personalized interface on the a user’s iPad, iPhone, and Android phone. Homeowners can personalize their scalable systems with applications that enhance safety and security, comfort and convenience, and home entertainment.

Jason Spuller, technology director for Granite Ridge, stated, “The Granite Ridge team is constantly searching for the most effective amenities to include in our custom homes. We’ve found that homeowners are growing increasingly interested in building tech-savvy homes, and ClareHome automation is a great way to meet those demands. The Clare system makes it easy for each homeowner to start with an automation package that fits their current lifestyle, and then to upgrade to additional applications as their needs evolve. We are excited about the value and energy-consciousness this adds to our homes exceeding homeowners’ expectations with this uniquely custom automation experience.”

Kip Davis, owner of Audio Video Systems, remarked, “From the technology perspective, Clare Controls is leading the way to a new frontier of efficiency. The cloud-based Clare system’s remote management capabilities will allow our team to provide a consistently high level of service, configuring, maintaining, and managing automation systems efficiently, often without having to send technicians to residences. At the end of the day, this adds up to happy partners and happy clients.”

Brian Dietsch, Clare’s VP of business development said, “Granite Ridge is a forward-thinking company that does not accept the idea that technology is something that builders will do in the future. They believe – as Clare does – that the future automated home is here today, and we are proud to be their technology partner in the NextSTEP Home initiative. “

Granite Ridge Homes built 250 homes in 2013.
