Hippo’s Celebrates 30th Year

Hippo's celebrated its 30th year anniversary this month with an event commemorating the company's evolution.

Hippo’s celebrated its 30th year anniversary this month with an event commemorating the company’s evolution. “It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come; what once was focused solely on home entertainment has grown into a one-stop shop for a wide spectrum of cutting-edge consumer electronics solutions,” said Anthony Hazapis, president of Hippo’s. “We are so grateful to have the opportunity to serve the technology needs of our community and are honored that after thirty years we continue to earn their trust and support.”

Hippo’s celebrated its 30th year anniversary this month with an event commemorating the company’s evolution.

The event paired attendees with one-on-one access to leading CE products and applications, including demos and displays from Audioquest, GoldenEar Technology, LG, Milestone AV, NAD, Samsung, Sennheiser, Seura, Sony and Totem Acoustic, among others. Alongside cocktails, appetizers, and of course birthday cake, guests were treated to a special proclamation from the United States House of Representatives Congressman Paul D. Tonko who helped share in this major community milestone.

“With a focus on customer service, Hippo’s is a shining example of entrepreneurial success,” said Congressman Tonko. “Hippo’s has been an important part of the Capital Region’s history and tradition.”

For three decades now, Hippo’s has helped transform the homes and workplaces of its greater Albany clientele, partnering with premium manufacturers from across the CE industry, to deliver custom electronic system design and installation spanning home automation, lighting control, whole home streaming audio, security, and more.

“It’s my favorite theater store in the area,” said customer Paul Goldman. “Nothing around the area even comes close. The staff is superb and really helpful.”

“Hippo’s has adapted incredibly well with the evolution of technology and home theater. The store went from a place that sold products with added support to one that sold services supported with products. It’s permitted the business to grow as one that offers highly specialized service using the very best in technology and workmanship,” added Michael Lamarti, CEO of Jola Interactive and longtime Hippo’s partner. “The camaraderie created with all of the employees, and in particular, my relationship with Tony and his family is a cherished memory. We’ve become lifelong friends and I’m forever indebted to him for how he’s helped me throughout my life.”
