Savant’s app for the Apple Watch allows users to select and set scenes right from their wrists, so they can arrive home to any mood setting they feel like.
Users simply tap on the Savant "S," then choose from a list of pre-programmed scene settings. The app, which was released concurrently with the Apple Watch, offers users a streamlined list of scenes that have been previously customized on their iPhone. Simply tap on the Savant “S” icon, tap a scene, and the home responds immediately to the selected preset, closing or opening shades, adjusting the lighting, music, television, and more.
The app works with any version of the Savant iOS app released since last October, and requires no configuration on the watch—users just pair the watch with their iPhone and their settings are automatically transferred, according to Tim McInerney, director of product marketing.
The next update will come later this month with Savant’s 7.2 firmware and will add notification functionality to the watch, McInerney said. Users can set parameters on their Savant iPhone app to trigger notifications on the watch for scenarios such as their home temperature exceeding a set limit, or if their children have been watching TV for too long.
