Barcelona, Spain–Intel Corporation’s venture investing organization, Intel Capital, has made four new investments in companies developing innovative technologies for the digital home.
At the recent Intel Developer Forum (IDF), Intel Capital president John Miner disclosed that the $200 million Intel Digital Home Fund invested in Digital 5 Inc., a provider of consumer electronics networking technology; Staccato Communications Inc., an ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless solutions developer; Trymedia Systems Inc., a secure distribution technology and services provider; and Wisair Ltd., a UWB wireless chipset and solutions company.
“The Intel Digital Home Fund investments we’re announcing today support Intel’s initiatives to enable people to enjoy digital content–including music, games, photos and video–on multiple devices in the home and beyond,” Miner said. “These four companies’ technologies help solve key interoperability, bandwidth and distribution issues.”
In related news, Louis Burns, Intel vice president and general manager of the Desktop Platforms Group, will deliver a digital home opening keynote Thursday, May 6, at Connections: The Digital Home Conference and Showcase, at the Wyndham Anatole in Dallas, Texas.
