Kwikset Smartcode Locks Get Icontrol-Certified

Two of Kwikset's popular electronic locks for residential security have been certified through the Icontrol Networks OpenHome Partner Program.

Two of Kwikset‘s popular electronic locks for residential security have been certified through the Icontrol Networks OpenHome Partner Program.

The SmartCode 910 and SmartCode 914, both with Home Connect technology, are among eleven devices that Icontrol, a leader in connected home technology and innovation, recently added to its growing OpenHome ecosystem. The OpenHome Program is the first community for application and device makers to partner on a common platform. Through this program, certified devices can integrate into smart home solutions from Icontrol’s service provider partners, who reach millions of households worldwide.

Icontrol Networks’ 2014 “State of the Smart Home Report” found that consumers identify security as the top reason for using a smart home system. Kwikset’s SmartCode locks will bring consumers added peace of mind via remote locking capabilities, as well as a wide range of security and convenience features.

Kwikset’s Z-Wave SmartCode 910 with Home Connect Technology, enables the door lock to wirelessly communicate with other smart devices in the home. The lock allows the user, through any web-enabled device, to remotely check the door lock status, lock or unlock the door, and receive text or email messages on lock’s activity. Additionally, customized entry scenarios can be created for each user through a personalized access code.

Kwikset’s SmartCode 914 Deadbolt with Home Connect technology provides all of the features of the SmartCode 910 and also offers a new design with best-in-class residential lock aesthetics. This design features a new exterior style and class-leading reduced interior size for enhanced aesthetics inside and outside the home.

“More than 70 applications and devices have been certified and are now part of the OpenHome ecosystem, with 80 more currently in the works,” said Jason Domangue, Icontrol’s vice president of ecosystem development. “For the connected living market to reach its full potential, devices and applications must be able to work in the rigors of the real world. These devices and applications have been integrated using OpenHome’s secure, open standards. No other interoperability program is addressing existing mass market needs like the OpenHome program.”

Said Keith Brandon, director of residential access solutions for Kwikset, “We’re pleased to join the other industry-leading smart device makers in the Icontrol OpenHome Program. Increasingly, smart locks are becoming the centerpiece of today’s connected home. Through Icontrol, a whole new group of consumers can experience the convenience and safety that our SmartCode locks offer.”
