Lutron Electronics is celebrating a milestone this year – its annual Excellence Awards competition turns 10. Founded in 2003, the competition recognizes top projects from Lutron’s Residential System Providers and has been completely revamped for its 10th anniversary.

The Excellence Awards competition recognizes the world’s best total home control projects using Lutron light, shade and temperature controls, appliance modules, third-party equipment and more. Close to 100 of Lutron’s residential system providers have been honored since its inception.

New for 2013 is the elimination of formal award categories. Instead, the company is asking system providers to submit their very best Lutron projects and let the judges do the rest.

“Each project that’s entered is excellent in some fashion, whether it’s because of the unique application of Lutron systems and shades, integration with a security system, or as a primary energy saver in the home,” said Michael Smith, vice president of residential sales at Lutron. “This year, the judges will decide which category each entry fits in to and will select the very best projects of the year.”

With that, entrants are being asked to focus on the following topics in their entry submission:

1. Essence of pleasance
2. Use of RadioRA 2
3. Use of HomeWorks QS
4. Integration with a security system
5. Energy-saving applications
6. Integration with third-party equipment
7. Use of Sivoia® QS shading and drapery solutions
8. Use of the new Sivoia QS or Serena honeycomb shades

Winners will be announced on Thursday, September 26, in conjunction with the CEDIA EXPO in Denver, CO. Winners will receive a recognition award, attendance at an awards dinner with Lutron executives and a winner’s logo to use on their website.

“It’s exciting to see this program in its tenth year,” said Smith. “We look forward to recognizing this year’s winners as well as looking back at all of the winners over the past 10 years.”

Visit www.lutron.com/excellenceawards for a complete list of rules and requirements, and to enter. All entries must be submitted via the online resource. Entries must be submitted by 11:59 EST on Sunday, August 4.
