Lutron to Offer ‘Made in America’ Ballasts

Lutron Electronics Co. has opened up production of its digitally addressable ballasts in the United States. With the addition of U.S. ballast design and production, Lutron is now able to offer an entire light control solution compliant with the Buy American provision of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.

Compliant product lines include the EcoSystem digital and Hi-lume 3D Series Fluorescent Dimming ballast lines.

Targeted to the commercial installation and retrofit markets, Lutron ballasts are designed to install easily into new construction or existing spaces, and integrate with low-profile architectural fixtures in executive, computer-intensive, healthcare, education, government, military, or presentation space applications. All ballasts are tested for performance with Phillips, Sylvania, GE, and other commercially available lamps.

“Lutron products can be confidently specified and installed on any project—especially public projects that utilize funding provided by the ARRA stimulus program,” Lutron’s government business development director, Andy Wakefield, said. “Lutron has offered American made lighting control solutions since our first product introduction in 1961. With the addition of our ballast lines, we can now offer a complete package.”

Also referred to as the federal economic stimulus package, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was enacted by Congress to stimulate the American economy in the wake of the recent economic downturn. The Act provides a preference for products manufactured in the U.S. in government-funded projects at the federal, state, and municipal level.

Customers with ARRA-funded projects can view Lutron’s Buy American Compliant website at www.lutron.com/baa for a complete listing. Each product listed on the site satisfies the requirements of ARRA Section 1605 and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 25.6 for construction materials, and meets the demand for energy efficiency in new and existing structures. Compliant products include GRAFIK Eye and GRAFIK Eye QS preset controls, seeTouch wall stations, occupancy/vacancy sensors and daylight sensors.
