Necessities Training Event Draws 74 Attendees

The New England EDGE Distributors Group member held a training session that featured Planar, Gefen, and Cooper Wiring Devices products.

Seattle, WA — New England EDGE Distributors Group member Necessities, led by Chet Flynn, Gary Thomerson and Sandy Duffy, held a training event at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Norwood Massachusetts earlier this month that featured manufacturers Planar, Gefen, and Cooper Wiring Devices. The event drew more than 74 attendees comprised of home theater installers, systems designers and project engineers, with several attending from as far away as the state of Maine.

John Bishop, Runcos independent sales rep in New England, showcased Planars Model 8130 single chip DLP 1080p projector along with Crystal Views Crystal-Glide Widescreen Lens Transport to educate dealers on a new approach to screening room design which he dubs A Modern Media Screening Room Design. The approach focuses on wider and brighter screens by utilizing 2:35.1 aspect ratio projection screens. Bishops design program called Personal Cinema Architect takes into account the field of view, the light level from the screen and the viewing environment to lead installers to create what he refers to as a cinematic experience, as opposed to a glorified, yet lackluster big TV experience.

Gefens training manager Aaron Mathes conducted sessions on Gefen’s HD and TV offerings. According to Flynn, upon completing the 1.5 hour Gefen sessions, many attendees said that while they were aware of the core products for extending HDMI, they had less awareness of the more sophisticated solutions offered by Gefen, so the trainings were very beneficial.

Cooper Wiring Devices Bill Johnson and Ed Pidgeon educated dealers on the new and retrofit opportunities of selling the manufacturers Aspire RF brand of wireless Z-Wave control systems, including an overview of Z-Wave technology and its compatibility with the many consumer electronics products available today.

Brian Pimental, principal of Woburn Massachusetts-based The Home Theater Company said, If you need training in our industry there arent any schools that you can go to; having smaller events like todays, scheduled an hour apiece, are very helpful in learning more about a companys products.
