Burke replaces Grant Rummell, who retired after 23 years of service with Nortek on January 31.
Burke will oversee several home technology brands, including the AVC Group (ELAN Home Systems, Niles Audio and Xantech) as well as Gefen, Linear, Omnimount, Panamax/Furman, SpeakerCraft, and others.
According to Nortek, Burke’s strengths include creating and marketing “innovative products for global markets as well as reengineering businesses for maximum effectiveness.”
He has extensive experience in supply chain, operations, product development and customer service, and has developed strong relationships with industry leaders and world-class electronics companies around the globe, the company said.
“We look forward to Sean leading this part of our business into the next phase of its growth,” stated Nortek president and CEO Michael J. Clarke, another Nortek newcomer. He was hired to replace long-time CEO Richard Bready when he retired in late 2011.
Burke most recently served as president of the FlexComputing division of Flextronics International, Ltd., which is also Clarke’s former employer.
Burke previously held senior management positions at Iomega, Hewlett-Packard, and Compaq Computer.
