NuVo Technologies is now accepting orders for its Renovia Whole Home Audio System, which will enable the company’s dealers to utilize Power Line Carrier (PLC) technology in the largely untapped retrofit/remodeling markets. Renovia is scheduled to begin shipping on April 12, 2010.

“The Renovia design team worked closely with a key group of customers that are both electronic system contractors and electricians. Their advice and guidance was pivotal in developing this flexible, affordable and easy system for the retrofit market,” NuVo president/COO David Rodarte said. “To help our dealers and installers promote this game-changing product, NuVo has created an extensive Renovia marketing program and Dealer Resource Center packed with selling tools.”

Renovia uses standard HomePlug 1.0+ PLC technology to deliver audio and associated metadata over a home’s existing 110-volt electrical wiring. With no home run wiring, installation is minimally invasive with little to no wire pulling and drywall cutting, according to the company.

Renovia starts with the Main Source Hub, which delivers audio and metadata from up to six sources to up to eight different listening zones in the home. The Source Hub contains a built-in dual AM/FM/SIRIUS-Ready tuner, two dedicated inputs for the Renovia NuVoDock for iPod, and can support a variety of legacy devices and NuVo’s own source selections, including the new Music Port.

In each room the in-wall, 50-watt Zone Amplifier is paired with an AC connection for power and communication with the Source Hub. Integrators may customize the system to a homeowner’s needs by selecting from NuVo’s in-wall OLED display Control Pads (available in both single and dual gang sizes), the new Color Touch Pad, or the portable Wireless Control Pad.

Renovia’s pricing starts at $4,999 MSRP for a basic four-zone packaged system, which includes a Source Hub, four zone amplifiers, four E6G OLED Control Pads and a NuVoDock. Additional components and accessories are available for expanding and customizing the Renovia system.
