NuVo Technologies’ Renovia Whole Home Audio System has begun shipping. The much-anticipated system makes use of Power Line Carrier (PLC) technology to distribute audio and metadata over a home’s AC wiring, providing what the company says is a simple and efficient retrofit solution for whole home audio.

“Renovia is the culmination of years of thorough industry research, invaluable dealer guidance, innovative engineering and design, and exhaustive testing,” NuVo’s president and COO David Rodarte stated. “The resulting product is a remarkably reliable and adaptable system that can offer whole home audio to the retrofit market like never before. We are so proud to be offering this product, and all the tools and training to support it, to our industry.”

Renovia’s audio system includes a main Source Hub that supports up to six different source components, up to eight in-wall Zone Amplifiers, and a choice of four Control Pads, including a Wireless Control Pad.

Renovia has been designed to let the homeowner customize their audio sources, ranging from its built-in dual AM/FM/SIRIUS-Ready tuner, to iPods and CD players, to NuVo’s Music Port that stores a home’s digital music collection and opens up access to streaming audio from internet sources like Pandora.

Renovia Tools, Training, and Dealer Support

In conjunction with the Renovia system, NuVo developed the Site Analysis Tool (SAT) to help installers identify the best outlet locations for audio reception in each zone prior to installation. This two-module testing device simulates signals along the home’s power lines and is the key to an efficient and successful Renovia installation, according to the company.

To further prepare dealers and installers for Renovia, this Spring NuVo is offering the Retro-Active Tour, a full schedule of free training classes held in 37 cities across the U.S. NuVo’s education team will be showcasing the SAT testing process, Renovia’s installation and configuration, as well as discussing NuVo’s new Music Port and Color Touch Pad.

With the move into residential retrofit projects, NuVo has developed a program of customizable sales and marketing tools for its dealers. Available online in NuVo’s Dealer Resource Center, the professionally designed templates cover all aspects of new business development, from an introductory letter and sales presentation, to direct mail pieces, van wraps and more, the company says.

Renovia’s pricing starts at $4,999 MSRP for a basic four-zone packaged system, which includes a Source Hub, four Zone Amplifiers, four E6G OLED Control Pads and a NuVoDock for iPod. Additional components and accessories are available for expanding and customizing the Renovia system.
