Onkyo Adds Trio of 11.4-Channel AVRs

Three new networked AV receivers (AVRs) that Onkyo is adding to the top of its line include the industry’s first two models with the full 11-channel implementation of DTS Neo:X post-processing.

Onkyo’s three new networked AV receivers

DTS Neo:X upmixes stereo and multi-channel audio programs to up to 11 discrete full-range channels by adding a pair of front-height speakers and a pair of front-wide speakers to a traditional 5-channel or 7-channel surround-sound speaker system.

All three AVRs are also the industry’s first AV components to implement Cisco Linksys’ SimpleTap technology to simplify how the AVRs connect to a home network, the company said. SimpleTap firmware updates will be available for all 2012 networked AVRs from Onkyo.
