Pakedge Device & Software today announced the introduction of its PI-04 PoE Power Injector, a Gigabit IEEE 802.3af compliant PoE Power injector with Endspan Intelligent Detection.

The PI-04 PoE Power Injector.

The PI-04 features a heat dissipating metal housing with integrated wall mount flanges. The Gigabit PoE technology is designed to eliminate the need to find a nearby electrical outlet to power network devices such as IP camera, wireless access points, and VoIP telephones. In addition, ethernet will be carried at Gigabit speeds.

By virtue of not turning on power until the PI-04 detects a valid PoE signature from the devices attached downstream on the ethernet cable, the device protects against damage to non-compliant equipment, according to the company. In addition, voltage is inserted at 48V into the ethernet cable, eliminating voltage drops due to cable length.

The PI-04 is not a Pakedge proprietary unit, and will power any device fully compliant with the IEEE 802. 3af PoE Standard.
