PoolScout Wins TechStarter Competition at CEDIA Expo

The AI-powered pool monitoring application, powered by Deep Innovations, was awarded Launchpad’s TechStarter grand prize.

CEDIA Expo introduced new residential brands with the Launchpad and TechStarter programs. During CEDIA Expo 2022, the TechStarter program offered Launchpad exhibitors the opportunity to pitch their business models to a panel of industry judges.

The Launchpad judges evaluated the brands on their product, innovation, opportunity and marketing and sales strategies. Generously donating their time to kickstart new brands and provide feedback and recognition to Launchpad exhibitors are industry judges, including Tom Doherty, director, new technology initiatives, for Home Technology Specialists of America, Inc. (HTSA); Franklin Karp, founder of Franklin Karp & Co.; and Roberta Lewis, founder of Roberta Lewis & Associates.

TechStarter Award - CEDIA Expo 2022

PoolScout, powered by Deep Innovations, was selected as the grand prize winner of the Launchpad’s TechStarter program at CEDIA Expo 2022. Deep Innovations utilizes advanced video analytics, deep learning, and artificial intelligence to create products to make pools safer and easier to maintain. Their latest innovation, PoolScout, harnesses cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) to distinguish toddlers from other people and pets. PoolScout analyzes a pool’s live stream video in real-time to recognize unsafe scenarios and distribute reliable, effective alerts.

“After multiple years of research and development, we were excited to participate in the Launchpad and TechStarter programs to showcase the ground-breaking technology behind PoolScout,” says Sam Weitzman, chief executive officer for Deep Innovations. “CEDIA Expo was a great venue to unveil the AI capabilities we’ve been working hard to develop. The award selection process and ceremony gave us increased exposure, which has led to meaningful conversations with potential distributors and partners. Most importantly, TechStarter raised awareness around our innovative product and unique technology that provides a compelling solution for the smart home ecosystem.”

“The Launchpad and TechStarter programs have become pivotal for companies looking to launch their brands and gain exposure to the custom installation community at CEDIA Expo,” says Jason McGraw, CTS, group vice president for CEDIA Expo and KBIS, Emerald. “We are thrilled to welcome PoolScout to the elite group of Launchpad participants and TechStarter winners. We wish Sam and his team at Deep Innovations continued success as they develop life-saving technologies that promote the future of pool safety.”

The Launchpad and TechStarter have created a necessary platform for new companies to introduce their brand and technology to the residential technology industry. The programs are designed to highlight brands that have been in business for less than three years and have never exhibited at CEDIA Expo. A few of today’s industry-leading brands, including AXIS, Domotz, Josh.ai, HDMI Staffing, and guardDog.ai, utilized the Launchpad and TechStarter programs to introduce their brands to the residential technology industry.
