PR Veteran, Phil Callahan, Has Died

The owner and principal of Callahan Public Relations and Consulting was a beloved figure in the CI industry.

Phillip James Callahan, who loved, laughed and lived life to the fullest, died on Thursday, June 28.

Born on October 16, 1949 in Glendale, California, Callahan had more than 20 years experience in both consumer electronics audio/video specialty and the pro-AV industries. He culled that knowledge into marketing and selling products under his own PR firm, Callahan Public Relations, which he launched in June 2005 in Huntington Beach, CA. CPR has represented well-known technology firms such as Mitsubishi, Hatachi, and Sumiko, as well as CI industry firms, including CLO Systems, Active Thermal Management, and Media Dcor.

He was known by his friends to be proud of his Irish heritage, devoted to Notre Dame, loved traveling, singing, playing his guitar, riding his bike, and the theatre.

Callahan was preceded in death by his parents Phillip Frances and Margery McPherson Bell Callahan. He is survived by his sister Eileen Anne Gallagher of New York, his cousin David (Carlene) Callahan, Kelli Rigby-Hyde of Manhattan Beach.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1441 West Balboa Blvd., Newport Beach, CA. Private internment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery & Mausoleum, Montebello, CA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice or The Casie Hyde Memorial Foundation, 943 8th Street, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
