Washington, DC--Riptopia, the digital data processing and CD ripping service, has adopted Gracenote MusicID, the music identification technology and database of music information. The union of Riptopia with Gracenote's MusicID is aimed at giving the most accurate digital solution for audiovisual installers, digital hardware manufacturers and audiophiles who want to seamlessly transition into the new digital age.

The Gracenote Global Media Database contains metadata, such as genre, album, artist and track title, on more than 50 million tracks. Music information is automatically associated with each song, enabling the consumer to easily find and play just the music they want. Gracenote's database also accommodates other written alphabets so the information available is truly global. This service is also available for custom installers and other industry professionals providing high-end services to consumers.

"With its innovative technology and custom software, Riptopia has built the first encoding solution capable of quickly ripping large CD collections with the highest fidelity to the original CD," said Jim Hollingsworth, Gracenote senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Gracenote's CD recognition technology and our global database of music information can recognize virtually any disc. Our partnership with Riptopia ensures their customers will receive metadata of unparalleled accuracy and integrity."

The Riptopia/Gracenote partnership is integral to offering the audiovisual industry a turnkey solution for transitioning their customer's CD collections into accurate digital format. Launched at CEDIA 2005, Riptopia's Audio Visual Installer Partnership Program offers wholesale/high volume rates to audiovisual installers and hardware manufacturers and assistance in uploading a customer's personal digital library onto a variety of media centers, music servers and mobile digital players.

"The marriage of Riptopia's digital processing technology and Gracenote's CD recognition system with its massive music information database of clean and accurate metadata, will help Riptopia provide our customers with digital music libraries of unprecedented quality and accuracy," said Riptopia President Kurt Beyer.
