Runco has announced the availability of Ultra versions of several of its projectors: the 3Dimension D-73d Ultra, LightStyle LS-HB Ultra, QuantumColor Q-750d Ultra and QuantumColor Q-1500d Ultra.

Designed for higher sharpness and lower color distortion at longer distances from the screen, the Ultra versions expand installation possibilities, giving integrators even more tools to sell projection.

Only a fraction of homes today have dedicated home theaters, Runco says, as the trend continues towards more “flex-theaters”, or other non-dedicated entertainment rooms such as family rooms, media rooms, and even outdoors. The Ultra projectors give integrators the flexibility desired to install projectors into other areas of the home.

“The projector is no longer just for a dedicated theater and having the right projector for the job is a necessity to achieve optimal performance,” said Jennifer Davis, vice president of marketing at Runco. “We developed the technology in our Ultra versions to give our authorized resellers even more projector possibilities for their clients.”

Because of its long throw distance, the Ultra projectors provide an ideal solution for design conscious consumers who want the quality of a projector, but don’t want a bulky projector intruding on the home’s design. While standard-throw projectors might need to be placed in the middle of a larger room to achieve the best possible performance, Ultra projectors can move further from the screen, making them easier to conceal and integrate into a home’s décor, according to the company.

Throw distances range from 2.40 to 4.00, depending on the projector and lens.
