Russound product manager Walt Zerbe has been honored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) with the 2009 CEA Technology Achievement for the creation of the Multiroom Audio Standard (ANSI/CEA-2030).

Russound’s Walt Zerbe accepts the 2009 CEA Technology Achievement Award from Brian Markwalter, VP of technology and standards, Consumer Electronics Association.

“It’s impossible to overstate the contribution Walt has made – and continues to make – to Russound and the custom market as a whole,” said Russound CEO Charlie Porritt said. “He brings an inexhaustible level of vision and commitment to every project he touches.”

The CEA award honors an individual’s contributions to new technologies or significant improvements made to existing technologies and participation and leadership in CEA’s Technology and Standards program.

Zerbe was a key leader in the creation of the joint CEA/CEDIA R10 Residential Systems Committee, where he currently serves as co-chair. He also previously served as co-chair of the R3 Audio Systems Committee, chair of R3 WG7 Multi-room audio, co-chair of Multi-Room Audio Video Council (MRAV), and board member of the TechHome Council.

“CEA’s Technology and Standards Awards honor industry leaders who help advance the state-of-the-art in consumer electronics,” CEA’s vice president of technology and standards Brian Markwalter said. “These designers, developers, and engineers focus on new technologies or bring significant enhancements to existing technologies and help drive further innovation within the industry.”
