Savant Joins the HDBaseT Alliance, Introduces SmartLink Digital Modules

Savant Systems has joined the HDBaseT Alliance to deliver the benefits of technology to its markets of home and commercial automation.

Savant Systems has joined the HDBaseT Alliance to deliver the benefits of technology to its markets of home and commercial automation.

Savant has also released its first HDBaseT-enabled digital modules, SmartLink service cards available for Savant’s SmartMediaPro family of controllers.

HDBaseT enables consumers and installers to reduce installation time and costs by using a single Cat-5e/6 cable to deliver uncompressed high-definition video, audio controls, ethernet and up to 100W of power. Savant’s SmartLink output and receiving modules can transmit audio and video signals up to 1080p over Cat-5e/6 cable lengths of up to 100 meters (328 feet) using HDBaseT technology.

“HDBaseT provides a competitive advantage in delivering an advanced end-to-end solution with our suite of monitoring and diagnostic systems,” explained Jim Carroll, executive vice president for corporate strategy and business development at Savant. “Savant understands the need to simplify installation and interoperability. HDBaseT allows our highly advanced diagnostic systems to be easily integrated.”

“HDBaseT provides professional integrators a simple and cost-effective solution for today’s connectivity issues that is also future-proof,” said Micha Risling, marketing chair for the HDBaseT Alliance. “Savant’s decision to join the Alliance and integrate HDBaseT into its products will fuel the growth of the ever-expanding HDBaseT product ecosystem.”

Savant’s SmartLink Modules include output modules available in both 2- and 4-port versions. The receiving module comes in a wall plate form factor with Ethernet, HDMI and control outputs, all accessible from the front panel of the device.

SmartLink Modules break out the power, Ethernet, and control protocol components of HDBaseT, directing them to a separate cable.
