Savant Launches Developer Alliance

The company has invited the Mac developer community to create home automation software.

Osterville, MA–Savant Systems has launched its new Savant Open Developer Alliance program. The program was previewed and available to developers who attended Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Now for the first time, all Mac OS X developers can apply to join the alliance and create applicable Automator Actions that integrate with the Savant home automation and control platform based on Mac OS X.

“Savant Systems has ignited a revolution in the high-end home automation and A/V industry by creating its own platform with serious computing power, based on Mac OS X, that allows dealers to maintain and evolve their customers’ systems,” explained Jim Carroll, president of Savant Systems. “Now Mac OS X developers can get involved. The Savant Open Developer Alliance program lets member developers apply their legendary creativity to home automation and share in the profits.”

Any Mac OS X developer can apply to join the alliance and contribute actions to integrate with Savants graphical programming environment, called RacePoint Blueprint. Savants unique configuration software, within RacePoint Blueprint, leverages several standard Mac OS X technologies, such as Quartz Composer and Automator, to control commercial and home automation systems. Developers can create controls to interact with devices, such as flat panel displays, DVD players, AV receivers, set-top boxes, Apple TV projectors, lighting, window treatments, and other equipment commonly deployed in any high-tech living space.

“Savant’s revolutionary systems have been under development since 2005 and we started shipping products to dealers this year,” Carroll continued. “The response has been tremendous and we have a list of requested Automator Actions just waiting to be created. Whether it’s a fun iTunes integration or something more serious involving security, Savant is looking for partners to share in the development as well as the resulting revenues.”

Savant Systems’ platform drives its ROSIE controllers and integrates with innovative user technologies including 5-, 7-, 9-, and 12-inch in-wall touchpanels, a 13.3-inch wireless touchpanel, and the ROSIE Coffee Table Touchpanel Controller, along with Apples iPhone and iPod touch.
